12 - 4 PM Entertainment and fun

First State Bank is planning to kick off the annual Cuban American Heritage Festival with a day dedicated to children of all ages.

The “Fiesta De Ninos” (children’s party) will be held On Sunday June 12, 2005 from 12:00PM to 4:00PM in First State Bank’s three parking lots located at the corner of Simonton and Catherine streets.

The festival raises awareness of the Cuban-American culture, and the important historical role Key West and the Florida Keys played in its evolution.

Exploring that heritage with the children of Monroe County creates another level of learning opportunity within our community.

This festival is about family. It is about reconnecting with the past and understanding where we are today. Some of the fun filled scheduled events are carnival rides, salsa and comparsa lessons, Bahama Village Music Group, Disco DJ Yuri, karaoke, face painting, piñata, food and drinks. The 2005 collectible “Fiesta De Ninos” T-shirts will be free to the first 200 children to arrive at the festival.

First State Bank, “Fiesta De Nino’s” sponsor has also partnered with the University of Florida UF/IFAS Monroe County Extension Service for a “Tropical Fruit Art Contest” where all elementary school children in MonroeCounty can enter to win 3 fabulous prizes.
